sdm-session − starts a sdm session
sdm-session [<options>]
opens a session for use with sdm(8).
if present, /etc/sdm/Xsession will be called with <options> passed on the commandline. alternately /etc/X11/Xsession, and failing that, the first argument is searched for in the PATH.

sdm-session executes the Xsession scripts rather than sourcing them, and attempts to kill the PPID, usually ssh(1), in order to end sessions for programs which were started outside the scope of the the window manager.
